Queen’s University, Belfast, 1989
GDC No. 64414
Laura is the senior dentist in the team having qualified from Queen’s University in 1989. She has been with the practice for 20 years after living and working in central London for a number of years.
Laura owned the practice until autumn of 2015 when she was delighted to pass the administrative responsibilities on to the fabulous Portman team, allowing her to focus entirely on practical dentistry and patient care. Never one to sit back and allow the grass to grow under her feet, she has just completed a postgraduate certificate in clinical education at Queen’s University, earning a commendation.
Whilst this course is about learning how to teach, Laura has spent her entire career expanding her knowledge and skills to improve the care and treatments she can provide through many courses including orthodontics, aesthetic dentistry, implant dentistry, advanced treatment planning and more recently facial aesthetics.
Laura has a real sense of fun and a very relaxed manner, setting patients at ease as she chats while she works regaling patients with all manner of tales about the Jones family.
Married to Alan now for more than half her life, they live in Randalstown with their two sons Isaac and Gideon, two sharpeis and Laura’s two tortoises Esio and Trot.

GDC No. 177968
Louise joined our team in February of 2015. She is from Belfast and has strong family ties to Cushendall, where she had her wedding reception in 2014. Louise followed in her late father’s footsteps into dentistry, gaining her degree from Manchester University in 2009. She achieved a further qualification MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 2011. She worked in a hospital setting gaining valuable experience in children’s dentistry, oral surgery and restorative dentistry before moving to general practice in Edinburgh.
Louise is enjoying being back in Northern Ireland and finds the welcome from the patients here to be very warm. Louise is a very conscientious, caring dentist who enjoys all aspects of general practice. She delivers care to a consistently high standard and is a valuable member of our team. She has carried out voluntary dental care in Vietnam and Peru.
Outside of the practice, Louise is kept busy as a mum of 2 young boys, which doesn’t leave a lot of time for her hobbies of sailing, cooking and travelling – but she wouldn’t change it for the world!
Dental Practitioner with a special interest in Dental Implants
BDS, Belfast, 1988
GDC No. 63417
Robert is a real asset to our team here in Broughshane Street. For many years we have been referring our patients needing dental implants to Robert at his practice in Magherafelt but we are delighted that he now comes to Ballymena several days per month to carry out his treatment here increasing the convenience factor for our patients.
Robert is from Portglenone and was in Laura’s sixth form classes at Cambridge House and they studied dentistry together too. He is a truly exceptional clinician combining first rate care, minute attention to detail with a genuine warmth and interest in people and a cracking sense of humour. He is passionate about dentistry and in his “spare time” organises teaching of dental courses by world class clinicians. He is also chairman of the NI branch of the Irish Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry.
Robert has cultivated relationships with some of the best dental technicians in the UK in order to deliver workmanship to the highest standard. Laura regularly tells her patients if she lost a tooth there would be no doubt that she’d be having an implant treatment with Robert!
Robert is married to Heather and they have two daughters. In his limited free time, he can be found on the farm and he does love a bit of messing about on boats.
BDS, Belfast, 2013
GDC No. 243897
Rebecca joined our team in September 2016 and has a smile that couldn’t fail to be contagious! Originally from Cookstown and graduating from Queen’s University in 2013, she now travels to Ballymena from Belfast. Before joining our team, Rebecca worked in general practice in Belfast but jumped at the chance to join our wee family knowing that it felt a perfect fit for her outlook and ethos.
We are delighted to have her! Feedback from patients is hugely positive, she is so friendly and reassuring but behind her fabulous smile, she is super-organised and efficient, hating to run late with her appointments.
Rebecca is interested in all aspects of dentistry with a particular interest in gum health which is great as gum health is fundamental to oral and general health but perhaps isn’t a fashionable area of interest for dentists!
A committed vegetarian, she’s having no joy converting the rest of us but this leads to a bit of craic around the kitchen table. She recently told Laura she loves old music from the 80’s which of course Laura still considers contemporary!
BDS, Newcastle, 2010
GDC No. 204969
Paul is the latest addition to the clinical team in Laura Jones. Paul is married to our Orthodontist, Emma McCrory. Originally from Magherafelt, Paul graduated from Newcastle University in 2010, and then lived and practised in Edinburgh until he and Emma decided to return home to Northern Ireland in the summer of 2018.
Paul is a most welcome addition to the practice. He is particularly interested in restorative dentistry and is constantly undertaking further study and training. He will soon be undertaking his Masters in Restorative Dentistry, which reflects his enthusiasm and commitment to his work. His easy going manner proves very popular with our patients and we have had nothing but the most complimentary feedback about Paul!
In his spare time, Paul is a rugby enthusiast and he also enjoys fly fishing. He and Emma also have a little French bulldog, who keeps them busy.
Dip Dent Hygiene, Belfast 2002.
GDC No. 6044
Karen joined our team at the end of 2012. At that time she had just returned to live in her home village of Ahoghill after several years of living and treating patients in the south east of England. She is an experienced hygienist and with her sunny, bubbly disposition, she has quickly become popular with our patients.
She is thorough in her work yet gentle and never scolds or lectures whilst helping and educating patients in how to maintain their gum condition between visits, which is a vital part of what a hygienist does. We have had nothing but positive feedback from our patients.
Karen is married to Paul and mum to two young sons, so she is kept busy when she is not at work
Dip Dental Hygiene, Belfast, 2012
GDC No. 164178
Claire is a welcomed addition to our hygiene team. She has studied dental hygiene in Belfast qualifying in 2012 as a mature student. Prior to this she started her dental career as a dental nurse, studying and working in London before moving to Scotland.
In Glasgow, Claire worked in the dental hospital and as a community dental nurse. She has accumulated a wealth of experience and we are delighted to have her as part of our team.
From Ballymena, she’s right at home with us and is building a great rapport with patients, proving to have a fabulous mix of empathy and common sense and high standard of care – a true professional. In the practice, our dentists rely heavily on the particular skills of our hygienists and we are very proud to have such a superb hygiene team.
Claire is married with a son and daughter. The family have recently undertaken a labour of love and restored a VW campervan named Otis.
Clinical Dental Technician
Dip Clin Dent Tech RCS, Eng, 2015
GDC No. 121426
Ed has a deep seated connection with Laura Jones Dental Care. He has carried out the prosthetic lab work for Jones’ for many years and before him, his dad was the dental technician used by the practice, long before Laura herself was a dentist.
In 2015, Edwin graduated as one of a very small number of clinical dental technicians which made us, and would have made his father, very proud. This is a new role in the UK dental team, allowing qualified clinical dental technicians to treat some patients independently and others in collaboration with one of our team of dentists. It is a real bonus for us to be in a position to offer Ed’s expertise directly to our patients.
Ed is married to our Practice Manager, Samara. They are kept very busy outside of work with their three young children.
Lead Dental Nurse
NEBDN 2016, RDN
GDC No. 265920
Ayesha has been a member of the team since early 2016. She has a number of years experience and has recently taken on the role of Lead Nurse within the practice.
She is highly skilled and is always undertaking training and study to develop her skillset. She particularly enjoys working chairside when Robert is placing implants, and her other passion is oral health education. She completed her qualification in Oral Health Education early in 2018 and she puts this to good use by going out to preschools and primary schools in the area to speak to pupils about the importance of looking after their teeth.
When Ayesha isn’t in work, she is kept busy at home, looking after her husband and little daughter.
NEBDN 2010, RDN, Cert Radiography, 2014

Rachel joined the practice in June 2014. She has six years’ experience as a dental nurse and since starting here at Laura Jones, she has been busy. As well as working alongside a number of our clinicians, Rachel has taken courses in photography, dental impression taking and dental radiography. All these skills are put to good use as we embrace the modern ethos of team dentistry.
Rachel has recently taken on the role of Lead Decontamination Nurse and is also one of our practice Radiation Protection Supervisors so she is kept very busy.
Rachel lives in Ballymena sharing her home with husband Scott and their much loved dog “Biscuit”.
NEBDN 2012, RDN
GDC No. 234507
Esther joined the practice in September 2014 and took no time in settling right in. She is from a farming family in Lurgan and with a houseful of siblings, it’s no surprise that she is very chatty and personable. Esther has almost 10 years experience in dental nursing and we were delighted to have a position to be able to offer her when she moved to the Ballymena after her wedding in 2014.
Since joining the team she has had experience working alongside most of our clinicians and a more obliging sunny natured assistant would be hard to find.
Esther also fulfils a key role in operating our decontamination room, where all our instruments are sterilized to the highest standard for our patient safety.
NEBDN 2018, RDN
GDC No. 275942
Trish joined the practice in May 2018 and can be found working alongside Rebecca. Having lived in Dundee for a few years, Trish moved back home early in 2018 and we are very fortunate to have been able to offer her a position at the practice.
She is hardworking and diligent, yet also great fun – she and Rebecca are a winning combination who manage to ensure even the most anxious patient feels comfortable!
Trainee Dental Nurse
Lynn joined our practice at the beginning of 2018 as a trainee dental nurse. For someone who was new to dentistry, she was impressively quick in learning the ropes! She is undertaking her NEBDN qualification, while gaining vital hands-on experience in the practice.
Trainee Dental Nurse
Jessica is the newest addition to the chairside team, and she can be found working alongside Paul. They make a great team and together help set patients right at ease.
When Jessica isn’t in work, she’s a real fitness enthusiast, who puts the rest of us to shame with her healthy lifestyle!
LLB 2004, Practice Management Diploma
Samara is our Practice Manager and joined the team shortly after obtaining her Law Degree at Queen’s University in Belfast. She has also completed a diploma in dental practice management and is well qualified and experienced for her role in our team. She handles all the day to day affairs of the practice.
Over the years, Samara has taken over much of the behind the scenes running of the practice from Laura, allowing Laura to spend more of her working time with patients. Samara is married to Ed, our CDT and they have 3 young children, meaning she is kept extremely busy, both in and out of the practice!
